Heritage/History Month Celebrations are a year-round series of programs highlighting the identities, voices, and legacies of historically marginalized communities through art, dialogue, and celebration.  

Martin Luther King Jr. And Coretta Scott King Commemorative Week Of Human Rights And Social Justice is a week-long series of programs and events commemorating the lives of Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King and continuing the dialogue around social justice and community change.

This year, we gather under the theme Hope and Belonging to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Mrs. Coretta Scott King through service, dialogue, creativity, skill building, and reflection.

The week begins on Saturday, January 17 with the MLK Jr. Beloved Community Service Project and continues throughout the week. Whether you are able to attend one event or several, your presence matters.

Courageous Conversations is a signature Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­ Scott initiative that invites the campus community to engage in meaningful, one-on-one dialogue across lines of difference. Rooted in the belief that listening with openness is as vital as speaking with conviction, the program pairs students, faculty, and staff to explore identity, perspective, and lived experience through honest conversation. Instead of canceling or calling out, participants are encouraged to approach differences with curiosity, transforming discomfort into discovery, understanding, and connection. 
Think Live Engage (TLE) is a learning series for faculty and staff that provides space for reflection, growth, and skill-building. Each session offers practical tools and shared dialogue to help participants think critically, live intentionally, and engage meaningfully in their roles and relationships across campus.  
Safe Zone seeks to promote both a physically and emotionally safe environment for all students, faculty and staff. Through education, community resources and training, we will promote understanding to everyone on campus.
