Teaching and Scholarly Interests
Dr. Pozo’s scholarship specializes in Latin America from the long nineteenth century to contemporary cultural production. Drawing from cultural studies, Latin American critical theory, and medical humanities, her work explores and challenges the intersections of literature and scientific discourses, simulation and identity, being sick and playing sick, and how race, class, and gender affect cultural practices. One string of her work focuses on representations of horror, disease and disability, and how they question hegemonic and traditional constructions of reality and normalcy. Dr. Pozo has presented at multiple conferences, and her work has been published in Journal of Latin American Cultural Studies, Revista de Estudios Hispánicos, Latin America Literary Review, and Revista Iberoamericana.
At Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» Scott, Professor Pozo teaches Spanish, Spanish for the Health Professions, and courses on Latin American and Latinx cultural production.
